The Gourdistry of Stacy Annon

Stacy AnnonHi, I’m Stacy Annon, a new member of the American Gourd Society and the Washington State Gourd Society. I have been interested in art since I was a young child. Mostly photography and watercolors captured my interest. However, about three years ago I picked up a book on my mother-in-law’s coffee table. It was a craft book on gourds. I couldn’t put the book down! Then she gave me a couple of her gourds and I was hooked!

I am a professional social worker working to improve the lives of children and their families. To find balance in my life, I need to have a creative outlet. Gourds bring me peace and joy. I started with a Dremel (burned it out) then moved over to the gourd saw, drill and sander I picked up at the Caning Shop. Now I am looking at upgrades so I don’t have to slow down.

My family has accepted that gourds will cover shelves and nooks around the house. I either need a bigger house or a way to set them free. Those gourds I have parted with in the past have gone to close friends or family or to fund drives to benefit children. I am looking forward to learning more as time goes by.
