13 Sept 2009 -

The Crystal Gourd Patch has been meeting monthly through the year. We have put together some great projects as well as shared new techniques. This month, Sally showed us how to make dragonflies that make your heart sing. They were fun to do. When we were not getting up to date with what is happening with WSGS and plans for the festival, we were making plans for our next gathering on the 17th of October. Anyone who is in the south Puget Sound area is welcome, email me for the details. Well actually, all are welcome however space is limited.

18 Feb 2009 -

The Crystal Patch, so far Sally, Sandra and myself, met this last Saturday for a day of weaving. We were having so much fun we finished all but the special touches so I don't have photos of our finished pieces. Next month we are meeting on the first Saturday (to accommodate the March meeting) to burn some ginkgo leaves. We have room for a couple more, give me a shout if you are interested.

The Crystal Gourd Patch is born! We are gourd enthusiasts who live around the South Puget Sound. Our goal is to get together monthly to share ideas and techniques on gourds. At the end of each gathering, we agree on what we want to do the next meeting and confirm the location. It's a relaxed and very supportive environment.

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the North Sound Patch for their warm welcome. You will always be the first patch but now you are not alone.

It was a great day of getting to know each other, chip carving, weaving and painting. Sandra Palmer even did a mini lesson on filigree. Thanks Sandra! I had a GREAT day and know Sandra and Sally did too.

We plan to meet next on the 2nd Saturday in January. On that day the Crystal Gourd Patchers will learn weaving on a gourd. Bring what you need to take advantage of this great learning opportunity. If weaving is not your thing, no problem, bring your gourd project and join us. If you would like to join us, email me at emeraldpools@hotmail.com to get directions. If you need to bring anything to participate in learning opportunities, I will email you a list of materials you will need. Because we are a small group right now, we are meeting at my home so no dues, just fun! The location may change depending upon who wants to host.
