The Artistry of Gloria Dittrick
So this year I planted the ones I like to work with, and here's some pictures of this years "goodies". We brought in all the gourds yesterday. The ground is really wet, and I didn't want them to rot on their bottoms.. I was trying to hold off until the plants totally died, but a few of them were forming some spots I didn't like. The plants are about done anyway; besides, they already had one night at 30 degrees although it didn't kill them. Their little feelers were dried, and some people say to pick them when they dry and others tell you to wait until the plant dies. I just followed my intuition and got them before any damage. It worked last year with all my swan gourds ... didn't ,lose any.
Glo's latest gourds as of 10 Feb 2008
These two are my first "filigree" work. I had these two gourd pieces that I had saved, and kept looking at them (about 4 months), trying to figure out what to do with them. I never worry about it ... I just figure that someday it will come to me !!! Now I have lots of new ideas using this new technique
