The Artistry of James Ozburn (Oz or Ozzy)

I am your WSGS Webmaster

Ozzy's Story: My very first home felt like I was living with a couple nuts. I then moved to a home that only had one womb. My occupancy there was only temporary. When I moved out I was screaming mad. For the next 17 years I found a place that didn't charge any rent, that was pretty sweet until the lady moved away. Had a few odd jobs. Then I hooked up with a bunch of guys that always wanted to play soldier. That was fun for a few years but then I wanted try to be normal again. I got a few more odd jobs then landed my current job which allows me to doodle and draw pictures all day. Ahh, what a life :)

I literally stumbled into gourds one day. I was looking for woodburner tips and stumbled across "other media". That other media was a woodburned gourd. That was almost three years ago and I have been hooked ever since. If your into woodburning, gourds are a wonderful medium to work on. They have no grains like wood so the burn lines are much crisper. Gourds and a good idea for me are usually my only inspiration for creating a really cool gourd.

I also enjoy working with wood. I build items for my house mainly out of necessity. I have built cabinets, snake and lizard enclosures, tables, headboards, desk units, cd and dvd shelves, smoker box, you name it I have probably made it out of wood. Wood gives you the freedom to create very nice pieces of furniture.

A bit about me: I have lived in Bremerton, WA most of my life. I'm married, two kids, numerous animals (sometimes it feels like a zoo around here). I love working with my hands which includes woodworking, gourding, creating really cool WSGS websites and my own site, making weird pictures of my family with Photoshop and fixing computers. I also like to hunt, fish, and real camping not that sissy RV camping.
