The Gourdistry of Sharon Watson
I did Tole painting and was tired of crafty painting, but I had all this paint and didn't know what to do with it, so one day a long time ago while at a craft store I saw a class for a gourd leaf bowl and signed up. It was a fun class and I had a new use for my paints. I was over whelmed but got some gourds and tried my hand at the small easy stuff like you see in my photos. Because of full time work, house, yard, husband, volunteering and 4 greyhounds I had little time for gourds, but when I could I took classes and thought one day might be able to do more and be as good as others, I hoped. Well now that I'm semi retired I have time to spend on gourding and still take more classes. I now sell my gourds at the farmers market and teach gourd classes to kids, do a Christmas in July and classes in the fall at apple pressing time at two Cider Mills in my area. Plus have sold my gourds in Carlsbad, Oceanside, Big Bear, Big River California and now in Washington too. Yahoo, still not as good as some but might never be, but I'm having fun and making some money too. Sharon
