According to Wikipedia, “a musical instrument is a device created or adapted to make musical sounds. In principle, any object that produces sound can be considered a musical instrument—it is through purpose that the object becomes a musical instrument.”
Members of WSGS may enter. Your musical instrument should be made from a gourd or gourds. Be creative, your instrument will make sounds that are music to your ears. Entries will not be judged on this sound but on the design. You may give your entry a title when you submit your entry photo.

CLASSES
WSGS Gourd Retreat
JULY 2026 (Days to be determined) The Washington State Gourd Society will be hosting our Third Annual Gourd Retreat. We are excited to gather at the same beautiful location right in the shadow of Mt. Rainer on July 16-18. The Mineral Lake Conference Center is located on Mineral Lake. Here the wildlife is bountiful, the landscape breathtaking and fabulous views of Mt. Rainier a plenty. Mineral Lake Lodge was originally built in 1906 as a high-brow wilderness retreat for the fiscal elite of Seattle and Tacoma and is now hosting gourd enthusiasts for a retreat like no other. Overlooking beautiful Mineral Lake, the 3 ½ acre site has 215 feet of pristine, private waterfront. At the end of the day, one can enjoy a campfire down at the lakeshore - wood and s’mores makings are provided. While you are here you may wish to take in the experience of visiting Mt. Rainier National Park right in our backyard.
